Welcome!

I am a statistician and researcher. My research is mainly focused on optimal test design and item calibration. I mostly use Item Response Theory, optimal design, and combinatorial optimization techniques in my research. Currently, I work as a statistician at the Swedish National Agency for Education (Skolverket) and as a lecturer at the Department of Statistics of Stockholm University. I am working on developing a method for the standardization of the students’ merit scores based on the results of centrally marked national final exams.

About me

I have a master’s degree in mathematics from Uppsala University, which I later supplemented with three semesters of statistics. After working as a statistician at Statistics Sweden (SCB) and the National Agency of Education (Skolverket) for about six years, I began my doctoral studies in the Department of Statistics at Stockholm University. I defended my thesis, entitled “Test Design for Mean Ability Growth and Optimal Item Calibration for Achievement Tests” in December 2021, supervised by Frank Miller. After working for one year as a temporary lecturer, I started a position as a postdoctoral researcher at the Division of Statistics and Machine Learning (STIMA) at Linköping University.

Besides my research interests, I am interested in science in general—especially mathematics, theoretical physics, and astronomy. If you have any research interests you would like to discuss, don’t hesitate to contact me!

Research

My research has so far revolved around optimal experimental design in achievement test assembly and item calibration. Lately, I have broadened my research to more general optimal design problems and heuristic combinatorial optimization methods. In the coming years, I would like to deepen and develop my research focus in both theoretical method development and applications in new domains and within educational measurement.

A more general goal is to develop theoretical methods within combinatorial optimization and optimal experimental design with a clear connection to applied problems. See my list of publications for more details about my research.
